The University of the Visayas and the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, two leading contenders in the 2007 CESAFI football tournament, were held to draws by their respective rivals.

UV tried but couldn’t gain any headway against the University of San Jose-Recoletos while USPF and University of Cebu fought to a 1-1 deadlock.

The draw enabled UV to hold the top spot in the standings. USPF, on the hand, inch closer to tying USJ-R for the second spot.

UV, however, paid dearly in its physical game against USJ-R as three of its leading players were yellow carded. Howard Dolino got the first yellow card in just six minutes of the first half and teammates Frederick Alazas and Josaphat Sacil got the yellow cards in the 44th and 59th minute marks, respectively. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
