LOONEY TUNES FUN RUN

Looney Tunes fun runs kick off The Philippine Star >> News >> Sports: "MANILA, Philippines – Looney Tunes Active!, a Warner Bros. project aimed at promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among children aged 4-12 through a series of fun run events in various schools, fires off today at the Miriam Grade School grounds in Katipunan Ave., Quezon City.

Sunday to see Run for Sight marathon Sun.Star Network Online: "The run will start at 6 a.m., while the registration is slated at 5 a.m. at the CDU foodcourt. Registration fee is P50.

At the end of the year, a Runner of the Year award will be given to the top 10 male and female runners.

At stake for the award are colored TV sets, DVD players and large specially engraved RFS eye-shaped medals."...

2010 TOUR QUALIFIER GETS GOING

2010 Tour qualifier gets going - INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos: "The country’s top LPG distributor will also hold executive races for beginners and those classified to race in categories A and B (massed start and team time trials) today, apart from the regular elite and junior competitions.

The LPGMA has also committed to train four riders for possible stints in next year’s Tour de France as part of the Liquigaz team.

Ty said cyclists Jeffrey Monton, Jackie Lloyd Berjamie, Nico Barreto and Michael Ochoa will be tested in three local races to be organized by LPGMA within the year. The top three riders will then be sent to Italy to join the Liquigas training camp in January."

Delos Santos remains unbeaten The Freeman >> The Freeman Sections >> Cebu Sports: "Cebuano runners came back to take the men’s and women’s title in the 5K race.

Milijunte Luterte took the challenge of the Delposo Brothers Joel and Eugene and came in the winner in 16:31.58. Joel has to settle for second with a time of 16:41.34 while Eugene came in third in 16:46.26.

Miscelle Gilbuena took the women’s title with a clocking of 21:06.62. Second was Hazel Retavele (22:15.15) while Rose Baylon (22:53.96) came in third."...

SURBAN TOPS MTB IN RUN BIKE FOR FREEDOM

Surban tops mountainbike event in Run and Bike tilt The Freeman >> The Freeman Sections >> Cebu Sports: "Some gutsy riders tried to block Surban’s way until the last four laps of the 10-lap race when he eventually pulled away from the pack.

Surban never looked back from there to win the race in 22 minutes and 35.83 seconds.

In the executive class, Oman Suplig got the top spot with the time of 10:31.31. Wilmar Andrino wound up second in 10:46.39 followed by Dave Manigo in 10:53.01.

Franklin Nolasco topped the beginners category in 13:05.08 followed by Bryan Luzano in 13:15.69. Pepito Fajardo was third with the time of 13:22.87.

MIZUNO INFINITY RUN - RACE RESULTS

Buenavista, Tolentino shine in Mizuno Infinity Run The Philippine Star >> News >> Sports: "The top three winners in the side event 10k were Elmer Sabal (33:02), Darwin Lim (33:07) and Bernardo Desamito, Jr (33:33) while winers in the women’s side were Janette Lumidao (43:00), Hazel Madamba (44:10) and Rowena Francisco (50:15). They pocketed P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively, including medals.

Christopher Ulboc, Jr. (15:00), Nelbert Ducusin (15:59) and Benjamin Alejandrino, Jr. (16:02) took the the top three places in the 5k male and received P3,000, P1,500 and P500.

Winners in the women’s category were Nhea Ann Barcena (19:28), Michelle de Vera (21:35) and Jonie Mellinger (23:48)."

Lance Armstrong becomes a dad again - INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos: "LOS ANGELES - Cycling star Lance Armstrong, a testicular cancer survivor and Tour de France champ on the comeback trail, is the father of a newborn son, People magazine reported Friday.

'Armstrong and girlfriend Anna Hansen welcomed a 7 lb., 5 oz, 20-inch-long baby boy named Max, the pro cyclist announced,' according to the magazine's online edition.

In a posting on his Twitter page Armstrong posted a picture with the caption 'Wassup, world? My name is Max Armstrong and I just arrived. My Mommy is healthy and so am I!'"

Chua said the size disparity was obvious during the crushing setbacks suffered by long-distance runner Julius Sermona and hurdler Sheena Atilano in the recent three-leg Asian Athletics Grand Prix in China and Hong Kong.

MICROSOFT 8-MILE RACE

Nationals dominate Microsoft 8-mile race The Philippine Star >> News >> Sports: "Over 2,000 runners joined the race in spite of the rainy weather where all finishers were treated to a raffle for an HP Mini Note laptop, HTC Windows Mobile phone, and Microsoft Zune and other minor prizes.

Kids and their families who joined the race frolicked in the giant inflatable slides put up by Microsoft and partook of foods from various concessionaires in the Fort Bonifacio Global City.

Buenavista, 30, took the easy win in the men’s Open 12.87-km race in 43 minutes, 11 seconds to pocket the P8,000 top prize. Upcoming runner Darwin Lim placed second (45:21) and veteran Bernardo Desamito Jr. was third (45:27).

Martes, 29, topped the female division in 51:31 while multi-titled Ailene Tolentino (55:03) and triathlete Monica Torres (55:59) finished second and third."
