YOUNG Cebuano cyclist Luis Miguel "Igi" Maximo again proved that his riding skills are far beyond his years as he captured the overall championship in the Juniors division of the recent Grandia de Mayo Cycling Road Race held at the southern part of Cebu.
Maximo traversed 216 kilometers in three different stages in just two days, becoming the youngest cyclist to cross the finish line. He started off slowly, winning silver in the Stage 1 road race from Talisay to Alcantara losing to James Tiples, a 19 year old from Manila with a time of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 32 seconds.
Maximo rebounded by taking the Individual Time Trial title in 39 minutes and 33 seconds in a race that spanned Alcantara to Badian then finished the Badian to Argao Stage 3 in second place behind Tiples with a time of 4 hours, 9 minutes and 56 seconds.
Meanwhile, Jeoffrey Flores topped the executive class followed by John Gayatin and Art Lambo, in second and third place, respectively./CORRESPONDENT JONAS PANERIO
