MAXIMO FINISHES 4TH IN ITT OF LEVEL UP M'BIKE RACE

JUNIOR cyclist Luis Miguel “Igi” Maximo finished in fourth place in the open/elite class Executive A class of the Individual Time Trial (ITT) of the Level Up Your Crank Mountainbike Race yesterday at the Busay Hills in Lahug.

Maximo was the youngest racer in the grizzled veteran field and finished the race in 19 minutes and 29 seconds, three minutes behind the eventual champion Grayson Senador, who finished with a time of 16 minutes and 22 seconds. Bal Valdehueza placed second, five seconds behind the winner while in third was Jason Dorado with a time of 19 minutes and 12 seconds.

“I’m delighted I made it into a podium finish bisan didto ko nabutang sa toughest group (Exec A). Just as I said before the race I was not expecting a top 5 win because I’m not used to a mountainbike,” said Maximo after the race.

In other categories, Daryl Cubar won the Executive B with a time of 16 minutes and 15 seconds, Robert Sabello took home the championship in the 26 Beginners class after crossing the finish line with a time of 18 minutes and 10 seconds.

Ryan Lucero won the 29 Executve/Beginners with a time of 21 minutes and 1 second while finally, Christie Dagatan reigned supreme in the women's category with a time of 23 minutes and 55 seconds.

Maximo will be competing today in the Danao-Sogod-Danao Road Race, using a road bike this time. The distance will be 70 kilometers. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
