Sacred Heart School-Atene de Cebu (SHS-AdC) arranged a finals match against the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) after dismissing their semifinals opponents in contrasting fashion yesterday at the 10th CESAFI High School Football Championship at the University of San Carlos-Technological Center (USC-TC) in barangay Talamban, Cebu City.
Booters of the SHS-AdC showed their determination in clinching this year's title with a 6-1 win against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF).
The Jaguars, on the other hand, had an easy cruise to the finals after defending champions Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) forfeited their game.
Starting the scoring spree for SHS-AdC was Cheyun Hwang, who cut a hole through the Panthers' defense to find the back of the net just four minutes into the match. He then followed it up with another goal eight minutes later.
Other scorers for SHS-AdC were Kyle Arrieta (32nd), Peter Pena (53rd), Wilfred Villaver (65th) and Keefee Yap (75th).
USPF's lone goal was scored by Christian Millebo.
The Jaguars, on the other hand, certainly did not expect to find themselves advancing to the finals in such an easy manner.
The Greywolves had led the eliminations by not dropping any of its games including a 10-0 routing of the Jaguars.
In the collegiate division, the semifinals begin today with USC going up against defending champion USJ-R while USPF plays against UC in the other pairing.
