UNIVERSITY of San Carlos-North Campus (USC-NC) and University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) will start their title bids as they face each other in today's opening match of the 2010 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Football Championship in the high school division at the USC Talamban Campus.

USC-NC and USJ-R will go up against each other at 1 p.m. while the 3 p.m. match will pit the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USP-F) and the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC).

A total of five teams will be competing in the high school division.

Defending champion Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) will be seeing action next weekend.

The 11-Aside tournament will use the league-type format during the eliminations, which means each school will be playing against each other once. The top four teams will advance to the semifinals with the first placer to go up against the fourth placer and the second placer to fight against the third placer.

The semifinal winners will advance to the finals while the losers will play for third.

Each team will have a lineup of 20. But during the tournament, the coach would only choose 18, with 11 as the official players and the remaining seven as substitutes. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
