CEBU, Philippines - Defending champion University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Kicking Jaguars launched a fiery offensive in the final half to outlast University of Cebu (UC), 3-0, in the collegiate division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) football event yesterday at the University of San Carlos-Technological Center (USC-TC) field in Brgy. Talamban, this city.

After a scoreless first half, Junjun Pintuan started the bal rolling for USJ-R with a goal at the 53rd. Agapito Baclan followed suit at the 77th before Junifer Ebero delivered the knockout out punch to the hapless UC booters at the 90th.

In the secondary level, the red-hot Miguel Caindec scored a hat-trick to power reigning title-holder Don Bosco Technology Center to a 4-1 thrashing of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, while the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) blanked USC, 5-0.

Caindec knocked in goals at the 15th, 36th and 79th. Junjay Arizabal scored DBTC's other goal at the 55th. Peter Peña canned SHS-Ateneo's lone goal at the 66th but time wasn't on its side.

Caindec's all-around brilliance made him the top goal scorer in the league with seven overall. Arizabal is at second with five goals, while their teammates Ethan Decena and Christian Noel sank three goals each, so far. (THE FREEMAN)
