The booters of the University of Cebu (UC) finished their season in explosive fashion as they routed the Cebu Doctor's University (CDU), 16-0, in the final day of the elimination round of the Cesafi football tournament at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Technological Center football pitch in Talamban.

The tremendous effort, though, was in vain as the Webmasters still failed to make it to the semifinal round after the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) prevailed over USC, 2-0, in the previous game.

UC wound up with five points after finishing the tournament with a 1-2-2 (win-draw-loss) record.

Had USJ-R lost, UC would have taken the last semifinal seat because of their 16-goal count against CDU, which would have bettered USJ-R's goal difference.

Nonetheless, Rodney Gandionco made the muddy pitch his own personal stage as the striker recorded an astounding 10 goals in the rout.

Seemingly scoring at will, Gandionco struck in goals at the 3rd, 6th, 11th, 16th, 37th, 41st, 51st, 53rd, 56th, and 67th mark of the one-sided match.

Daryl Tan, Ariel Repeso and Sadam Samontanez all submitted two goals each.

The winner-take-all semifinals of the tournament kicks off this weekend with defending champions USJ-R taking on 2006 champion USC while top-seed University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) takes on the University of the Visayas (UV).
