The Jaguars, who was facing elimination, took control of the game and never gave the bothers from the University of San Carlos (USC) any breathing room as they scored a convincing 2-0 win at the USC Talamban pitch yesterday.

Adrianne Mejaran scored the first goal for USJ-R in the 37th minute while Paul Nino Dela Victoria scored in the 61st minute to take USJ-R to the semifinal round as the number 3 team.

USC, despite the loss, made it to the semis as well, as the number 2 team behind topseed University of Southern Philippines (USPF).

The University of the Visayas (UV) took the fourth slot after playing USPF to a 1-1 draw. UV drew first blood courtesy of Jose Jordan Diao on the 23rd minute but USPF quickly levelled the count through John Paul Opigal on the 44th minute.

USPF and USC are actually tied for first place after the elimination round but USPF got the number one seeding with a higher quotient of +9. —Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
