LUIS Miguel Maximo topped the Tour ni Frank Junior Cycling race last Sunday in Balamban.
The victory was doubly sweet as he was able to outrace Miguel Gonzales of Manila, the Overall Junior Champion of the 2011 Pilipinas Cycling League.
Organizer Frank Gatdula said it was Maximo's familiarity with the race route that got him the victory.
"It was Igi's local knowledge of the race route in Trans-central Highway that spelled the difference. He was letting his opponents go first at a fast pace, then attacked in a crucial part of the route - a killer climb. He was never caught after that and proceeded solo to victory," shared organizer Fil-Am Frank Gatdula.
The 36km race route started in Gaisano Balamban, and passed through the Trans-central Highway and finished at Buak, Busay Hills, Cebu City. MCB
